The Strand Hotel’s new beach bar, open-air dining terrace has reopened, with more big renovations slated for the New Year.
It is among many pubs across the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region that are undergoing or have announced facelifts in recent months.
Venue manager and Yeppoon resident Nathan Marshall said he was eager for the hotel to reopen for patrons.
“We’re excited to reopen the beach bar, terrace, and new street dining ahead of a busy summer,” he said.
“Having these modernised spaces, as well as the added outdoor street dining, means our customers can enjoy our pub for many more years to come.”
“Each space is approachable and diverse to suit our entire community as well as visitors and are the perfect introduction of our two-part renovation with our beer garden set to open early next year.”
The Strand changed management in February of this year to national company Australian Venue Co who are behind the planned $2.2 million renovations.
Construction will start in 2024 on a new beer garden.
“Earlier this year, we asked the community what they want to see at their local, and we used this to shape our renovations,” Mr Marshall said.
New equipment was also installed in the kitchen in November with the menu, offering Queensland pub classics and fresh seafood from chilled chilli mussels to fresh poached prawns.
There are also gourmet pizzas, share plates, burgers, steaks, parmigianas and tap beers, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages.
CENTRAL QUEENSLAND PUB RENOVATIONS
It is not the only pub in the region getting a makeover.
Rockhampton’s Berserker Tavern received council approval in November for renovations at the venue, which is also managed by Aus Venue Co.
The plans include renovations throughout the existing hotel, extension of a new beer garden and a kid’s playground.
Work is continuing on the beginning stages of the demolition of the Leichhardt Hotel, also managed by Aus Venue Co.
The facade of the existing hotel will be retained and a single-storey venue will be built to include a sports bar, beer garden, indoor entertainment and dining area and gaming room.
The Gracemere Hotel and Parkhurst Tavern have also recently sold to New South Wales company O’Hara Group, who have big plans for their future.
Both Frenchville Sports Club and Rockhampton Leagues Club are also set to begin renovations in 2024.
