Trouble strikes at Boost juice founder Janine Allis’ luxe Noosa holiday home

The founder of Boost juice, who’s estimated to be worth about $100m, is facing a very-Queensland issue at her luxurious Noosa getaway. WE’VE GOT THE SCOOP

Having a plastic bucket on the cream carpet in the middle of your walk-in-robe to catch rain is far from ideal, but that’s the predicament Boost juice founder Janine Allis finds herself with at her luxury Noosa holiday home.

The juice queen’s five-bedroom Queensland getaway pad is leaking.

The property in exclusive hilltop pocket Little Cove, which is believed to be worth around $6m, was only built last year but the recent spate of wet weather has wreaked havoc on its architecturally designed timber structure.

“Just because of the humidity and the rain and everything that’s been going on, there’s been a few issues in regard to swelling wood and that’s why there’s a few holes that probably shouldn’t be there,” Allis said, of the property bordered by Noosa National Park and just a board toss from the ocean.

The 58-year-old, who is estimated to be worth about $100m thanks to her shares in Retail Zoo – the parent company of Boost, Betty’s Burgers, Salsa’s Fresh Mex and Cibo Espresso, is also seemingly unfazed by the issue.

“They’ve got to go around and fix a few things, which isn’t a problem,” she said.

The entrepreneur built the home on the rear of the block of her previous Noosa holiday house, subdividing the land and selling the original property in 2020 for $5.2m after initially buying it in 2009 for $1.6m.

Perhaps Allis’s lack of concern around the repairs comes because she only spends roughly three months of the year in the contemporary, naturally designed dwelling, which boasts a swimming pool and multiple entertaining areas, with her main home a stunning four-level mansion at Bilgola Beach on Sydney’s northern beaches, which she paid a whopping $14.5m for in 2021.

This new crime series, set in Washington state but filmed in Queensland, sees Meester star alongside Australian actor Luke Cook as sibling detectives navigating the challenges of a small-town police force.

The school was decked out in full Americana, complete with gridiron uprights replacing rugby posts, to become the fictional home of the Edenvale Eagles.

Production, which began last month, has brought a significant buzz to the area, with the series expected to generate over $14 million for the local economy and create nearly 200 jobs.

Fans have enjoyed spontaneous encounters with Meester, who was seen happily posing for photos and interacting with the public at various local spots, including the Burleigh Pavilion bar.

NEWLY SINGLE STAR HEADHUNTED

The newly single Isla Fisher has been sounded out to star in a planned TV series based on the bizarre life of a Gold Coast “funeral crasher”.

Bill Edgar, a former private investigator and private school sex abuse campaigner, runs a business called the Coffin Confessor, crashing funerals to tell secrets from beyond the grave on behalf of the dead.

He fell into the business in 2018 after one of his PI clients, a dying man, asked him to interrupt his funeral when he passed and confront his best mate over an attempted affair with his wife.

Edgar also once got up at a bikie’s funeral to tell mourners the dead gang member was gay and his lover was in the audience.

His strange profession has garnered international media attention and he was signed up by US celebrity agent Steve Mandell – who has repped the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Adam Sandler – for a potential screen deal.

Edgar told Sunday Scoop that Aussie TV producer Greg Quail is now in talks with Fisher’s management for her to star as the Coffin Confessor in a new TV series.

He has previously said he would like Ryan Reynolds to play him but believes Fisher would do an admirable job as a female Coffin Confessor.

The Aussie actor and husband, comedian and actor Sacha Baron Cohen, announced their shock split last week, revealing they had separated last year.

The couple described their split as the end of a “long tennis match,” alongside with a photo in tennis attire.

The Anglican Church last year settled a long-running sexual and physical abuse case with Edgar, stemming from his days at the elite The Southport School on the Gold Coast.

WHY AUSTRALIAN MUSIC IS IN CRISIS

Mark Wilson, the bass guitarist of the internationally acclaimed band JET, has lifted the lid on the challenges of attracting major international acts to Australia. And it’s not just because of those long flights.

Wilson, who was originally scheduled to perform with JET at the now-cancelled Groovin The Moo festival, highlighted the financial hurdles in bringing global music stars to Australia, pointing to the weak Aussie dollar.

He pointed out that these artists could earn substantially more by staying in North America, making it difficult to entice them to venture Down Under.

“It’s tough for punters, money’s tight at the moment. Everyone’s feeling the pinch,” Wilson said.

“The Australian dollar isn’t great right now – the cost of getting like a huge headliners is astronomical at the moment when they can just stay in North America and make more money, it’s hard to convince them to come out.”

This financial strain comes amid a series of high-profile festival cancellations, including Splendour in the Grass, Groovin the Moo and Falls Festival – all of which have axed their 2024 events.

JET felt the direct impact of these cancellations, finding themselves restructuring their plans in a hurry after GTM’s cancellation.

“We were devastated,” Wilson revealed, reflecting the sentiment of many artists scheduled to appear.

“Festivals are great fun … We had a really good slot. We were excited about it.”

In response to the festival’s cancellation, JET swiftly organised a tour of Australia, targeting many of the regional areas that Groovin the Moo would have covered.

“When [Groovin the Moo] fell over, we were really fast on getting together a nice tour of similar areas,” he explained.

Despite the current state of Australia’s festival scene, Wilson remains hopeful about the future resilience of music festivals in Australia.

“I sure hope so [that festivals can come back]. Festivals are a brand and I guess cancelling them does essentially damage the trust in it … But the good thing is people are still buying tickets to go to shows.”

JET will perform in towns across Australia starting May 10, including the Sunshine Coast on May 25.

JET’s upcoming Australian tour is part of their celebrations for the 20th anniversary of their debut album “Get Born”, perform in towns across Australia starting May 10, including the Sunshine Coast on May 25.

“Can’t wait to be there, it’s going to be so much fun,” Wilson said.

MAFS STARS SELL GOLD COAST PAD

The most famous couple to come out of Married At First Sight, Cam Merchant and Jules Robinson, have sold their investment property on the Gold Coast — but are keeping their swanky holiday home.

Property records show Mr Merchant recently quietly sold the two-bedroom, two-bathroom villa on the Gold Coast Highway in Mermaid Beach for $700,000 — without using an agent.

The property is in the Diamond Sands Resort complex, with Nobby Beach a five-minute walk away and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre down the road.

The stars also own a luxurious holiday home fronting the canal in Broadbeach Waters, which they purchased for $3.65 million.

That property has six bedrooms and comes with a wine cellar, a games room and a cinema.

The pair, who are expecting their second child, currently live in a home in Sydney’s Northern Beaches that they bought in 2022.

No word on whether the MAFS lovebirds have plans to move to the Sunshine State anytime soon, but their Gold Coast pad would certainly have room for their growing family.

PROVIDOOR RESCUED, ADDS CELEB CHEF

Celebrity chefs whipping up frozen meals began in the height of Covid – remember when restaurants were shuttered and “pivot” was the buzzword? We’re happy to report it’s a positive hangover from those dark pandemic days, with home delivery service Providoor adding Tweed-based Christine Manfield to its line-up. Joining the likes of George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and Manu Feildel, Manfield is down for six curries, including her beloved black pepper chicken ($32 for a two-person serve). To the shock of many, not least the big name chefs, Providoor closed in early 2023, with founder and Melbourne chef Shane Delia blaming the withdrawal of a financial backer, but it the venture was quickly snapped up by Sydney investor Sam Benjamin, co-founder of Rolling Stone Australia.

Steve Gollschewski and Bob Gee are shaping up as the leading contenders for the role of Queensland’s new police commissioner.

WORLD CHAMP’S FAMILY HOME LISTED FOR SALE

World swimming champion Ariarne Titmus has bid farewell to her stunning family home, which dad Channel 7 newsreader Steve has listed for sale as he and wife Robyn prepare for life as empty nesters.

Steve Titmus said despite the family being super busy, the time was right for the home to be sold.

Their Olympic gold medal winning daughter Ariarne now has her own apartment in Teneriffe and younger daughter Mia Titmus is also moving on with other arrangements as the family transitions to a new phase of their growth.

“The girls aren’t as home as much as they used to be. It’s time to downsize,” Mr Titmus said. “We own an apartment on the Gold Coast so we’re going to be spending some time between the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Robyn’s parents have moved from Tasmania to live on the Gold Coast, so for those reasons we’re selling the house.”

The four bedroom, two bathroom, double garage home built with Brisbane-based firm Lindona was listed for sale by Place New Farm agent Ann-Karyn Fraser. The home will go under the hammer at 11am on Saturday April 27.

The Chelmer home was custom built for the family with mum Robyn Titmus saying she made sure the girls’ both had walk-in robes in their bedrooms and their own chill-out zone upstairs for when they had friends over.

“Someone will be able to walk into our home knowing that it’s pretty new. It’s still under builder’s warranty. They don’t have to do anything. I would imagine that there’d be a lot of people that may not be able to go through the (building) process that we did. It’s nice to be able to offer that to somebody else knowing that it was built for a family.”

YARBROUGH CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY IN NOOSA

Interior designer Jade Yarbrough was spotted celebrating her 32nd birthday with a beach getaway in Noosa, joined by her sister Jasmine Stefanovic and friends, including model Montana Cox.

The event, marked with a lavish black and silver themed candlelit dinner, saw Yarbrough donning a chic $500 lace dress from Country Road, enjoying the evening with a glass of sparkling wine in hand.

This celebration comes just a year after the same Queensland beachside locale was the scene of a highly publicised altercation involving her ex, Michael Clarke, and brother-in-law, Karl Stefanovic after Clarke was accused of cheating on Yarbrough with his ex, fashion entrepreneur Pip Edwards.

The incident involving Clarke and the Stefanovics made headlines when footage surfaced showing an intense confrontation that reportedly ended Clarke’s longstanding friendship with the “Today” show host.

Clarke was openly remorseful, stating his actions were “shameful” and “regrettable,” acknowledging the unwelcome attention it brought to those involved.

The fallout led to public nuisance fines for both Clarke and Yarbrough, yet it was not enough to deter Yarbrough from revisiting Noosa to create new, happier memories.
