Sushi Masa
Japanese$$
You'll find this local gem tucked away in an apartment complex, and fitted out with dark, sleek furniture and a small sushi counter where the owner/sushi chef slices and dices. When the orders are flying the kitchen can be slow, but well-made, generously sized versions of the classics will perk you up. Agedashi tofu arrives as four slabs of silky tofu in a bowl of sweet dashi broth; tempura is delicately crunchy and light as air; ocean-fresh sashimi melts on your tongue; and teriyaki salmon is glistening, sticky and satisfying. Tempura ice-cream is a fitting full stop.
