Sushi Bar Rashai

Japanese$$

Picking a favourite dish here is a tough call. It could be the trio of super-fresh tuna, salmon and kingfish sashimi, or small skewers of chicken yakitori that arrive piping hot, smoky from the grill and ready to be slathered in thick, sweet sauce. Tempura king prawns also vie for top spot. A dab hand prepares the batter, so it’s light and retains excellent crunch. Wagyu beef teriyaki is another frontrunner, so thinly sliced it’s almost in ribbons. The sweet glaze catches and caramelises delightfully on the grill. The decor is unspectacular, but staff are sweet and there’s a warm, family-friendly feel.
