Sushi Bar Rashai
Japanese$$
It's easy to see why this dependable local punches above its weight despite being on a traffic-gripped, loveless strip of Parramatta Road: impeccably fresh fish, warm service and very reasonable prices. Sit up at the bar to select the day's market catch, or let your waitress guide you through the long list of sashimi, sushi and nigiri on offer. Favourites like miso eggplant and agedashi tofu are under a tenner, while don (rice bowl) dishes, such as chicken teriyaki, are nicely glazed and well above average. Finish with classic black sesame ice-cream.
