Sushi Bar Hiro

Japanese$$

Is that Hiro or hero? It's close to the latter for locals wanting a good feed before watching a flick at the cinema across the road. The space is small and plain, and can get noisy during busy weekend mealtimes, but it's pleasant enough to linger at. Do so while drinking sake and feasting on favourites such as gyoza, yakitori and shumai dumplings to start, followed by tempura, teriyaki, futomaki and sukiyaki, and a variety of great quality, generously portioned sushi and sashimi options. Service is sweet, if a little vague at times, but it's the fresh, good-value food and no-fuss vibe that converts first-timers into regulars.
