Saigon Spice
Vietnamese$$
Across the road from the mammoth shopping centre is this warm restaurant with wicker lanterns and elegant globes on exposed brick walls. Start with tangy and crunchy duck salad; shredded meat and pickled vegies tossed in lime juice and fish sauce. Sugarcane wrapped in prawn mince is small but sweet, moist and delightfully fresh. Follow with pho - silky noodles and slices of beef swimming in light broth - or boneless chicken, stuffed with egg and lightly seasoned pork mince, then deep-fried. Finish with deep-fried ice-cream rolled in coconut shreds and drizzled with caramel sauce.
