Pompidou
Mediterranean$$
The glamorous black chandelier hanging over the shiny white share table says it all. This French-inspired little salon-cafe does not do anything by halves. The floor is French parquetry, the tea cups fine bone china, the chairs bentwood, the counter a bright gloss yellow. And true to form, the coffee is one of the best organic blends in town, from Toby's Estate ($3.50), made with the same attention to detail evident throughout. There are plenty of food options to go, but why go when staying in is such a pleasure? The Mediterranean baked eggs have their own fan club, as does the croque-madame.
