Take a date (or a mate) to suave city Italian joint Marameo on Wednesday night for an excellent-value three-course feast – costing just a pineapple a head – complete with a half-litre of Italian red or white to share. The main event? Baked, bechamel-y spinach-and-ricotta-filled conchiglie (large pasta shells) in a rich ragu of both pork and beef.

Curb your late-night pasta cravings – without breaking the bank – at charming Thornbury bar Joanie’s Baretto.
