Anthony Albanese is not to blame for Donald Trump’s early departure, but he’ll return home with nothing to report.

Literally minutes after Anthony Albanese finished a press conference at the Calgary Sheraton, previewing Wednesday’s meeting with Donald Trump, news broke that the US president was heading back to Washington a day early.

The prime minister had travelled for four days, via make-work stopovers in Fiji and Seattle, for what would be his first face-to-face meeting with the president and, in one fell swoop, it fizzled into nothing.
