Tokyo | Consumer spending growth in China has picked up pace, providing some relief to a government looking to cushion the impact of Donald Trump’s tariffs while grappling with double-digit youth unemployment and the fallout from a property collapse.
Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday showed retail sales rose 4 per cent in the January-February period, better than a 3.7 per cent rise in December.
