Employers worried about the productivity of staff working from home have been warned against relying too heavily on keystroke data and other activity metrics when assessing their performance.

The pandemic-induced switch to remote working has increased interest in computer monitoring tools – so-called “bossware” – that track everything from the amount of time employees spend on social media sites to the number of emails they send each day.
