Services Australia axing of Serco contract sparks union blowback

The Albanese government is facing union blowback after it axed a call centre contract with Serco Group, leaving 600 call centre workers out of a job by the end of the month.

Services Australia on Thursday gave Serco two weeks’ notice that it would end its contract for the Essendon Park and Mill Park sites in Melbourne, after engaging the workforce for call centre support during the pandemic, bushfire and flood crises.
