MUA rules out Christmas strikes as industrial disputes climb

The head of the wharfies union has flagged there will be no further industrial action at ports in the lead up to Christmas following Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s warning the government would intervene if there was a threat to the economy.

It comes as data from the statistics bureau showed a surge in workers taking industrial action following a pandemic lull and disputes climbed to their highest level in almost three years as supply chain workers agitated over pay and conditions.
