Labor paid $30m to union-backed bodies in dying hours of Qld rule

The former Queensland Labor government paid out up to $30 million to union-backed training organisations just a day before entering caretaker mode, despite promising the money if re-elected in a bid to hold on to critical marginal seats.

Former energy minister Mick de Brenni and training and skills development minister Lance McCallum issued a joint press release on August 13 announcing that a “re-elected Miles Labor government will build a new $15 million skills and training facility in Rockhampton”.
