Fair Work backs waiving penalty rates for working from home

The Fair Work Commission has backed the continued suspension of penalty rates for administrative staff working from home during the economic recovery, despite union fears it would lead to permanent changes in the "new world of work".

The workplace tribunal on Tuesday extended flexibility on overtime and penalties for more than one million workers under the clerks award until the end of September after employers argued staff needed to work odd hours so they can care for their children while remote working.
