Employers want workers to trade penalty rates for work from home

Employers want staff who work from home to forgo penalty rates and other allowances arguing the flexibility they have makes these entitlements unnecessary, in a major test case that could have sweeping impacts on the rest of the economy.

Business NSW will petition for changes to the economy’s biggest award, which would affect 1.8 million administrative and IT workers, allowing them to give up award conditions including minimum hour requirements when working remotely.
