Bosses slam ‘radical’ gig economy crackdown

Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke has admitted the Albanese government’s next wave of workplace changes will increase prices for gig services like UberEats, as employers warn the “radical shake-up” will raise living costs as higher interest rates bite.

Mr Burke revealed the government’s laws for minimum gig worker conditions could include penalty rates for specific times and would even extend beyond on-demand platforms like Uber to marketplace apps where users set their own rates.
