A law firm is preparing a class action against the CFMEU and its ex-Victorian leader, John Setka, for allegedly banning its own members from working in the industry, including those who protested at union headquarters during COVID-19 lockdowns.
Canberra-based Adero Law announced on Tuesday the proposed action would seek damages and penalties against the CFMEU and publicly called for registrations for what it estimated were up to 300 former and current members who had been blacklisted in the past six years.
