Care giant underpaid staff $7.3m

Health, wealth and care giant Australian Unity has had to pay a $250,000 “contrition payment” for underpaying thousands of staff more than $7.3 million.

The ASX-listed company short-changed more than 8900 employees between 2014 and 2021 as a result of a slew of payroll errors in its assisted living business, which operates retirement communities and provides aged care, allied health and disability services.
