Bishop declares responsibility for Bell’s Intel role, rebukes council
Australian National University chancellor Julie Bishop has admonished council members for raising concerns over vice chancellor Genevieve Bell’s second paid job with technology giant Intel and revealed she made the final decision to approve all elements of the unconventional arrangement.
In a letter to fellow council members on Christmas Eve, the former Liberal foreign minister said that as chancellor she negotiated the terms and conditions of Professor Bell’s remuneration package, including what her ongoing employment with Intel would entail.
