Albanese delivers for unions with workplace deal

The most union-friendly workplace laws in decades, which extend controversial multi-employer bargaining laws to much of the economy, are set to pass the Senate this week after the Albanese government brokered a late-night deal with independent senator David Pocock.

Business slammed the government’s rushing of the workplace laws through the parliament and said the concessions Senator Pocock had extracted from the Labor government did not go far enough to protect employers from industrial action or getting roped into union deals.
