Many CEOs are worse managers than when they started their careers because they lack the breadth of leadership skills to make their organisations successful, according to a research paper by Korn Ferry Hay Group.

Local senior executives often draw on a very narrow range of managerial skills, having fewer effective leadership techniques than far more junior managers.
