Federal Education Minister Simon Birmingham has told Catholic and other religious school systems they don't have the option of gaming the new Gonski 2.0 school funding system by changing their status to gain more money.
In letters sent to three school systems last week, Senator Birmingham said that schools currently part of a system would not be allowed to gain any funding advantage by withdrawing from their group, because the government would treat them according to their status on 27 June, 2017, when the new school funding bill received royal assent.
