MH17 taught this leader how to manage through a crisis
Sharon Lewin, director of The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, learnt a huge amount about leading during a time of crisis and uncertainty in 2014.
It was July 17, two days before a health conference she was organising with 15,000 delegates was due to start. It was also the day Malaysia Airlines plane MH17, on which delegates from the conference, including a famous Dutch HIV scientist, were travelling, was shot out of the sky.
