The winner of Chair of the Year – Large Company in the inaugural Financial Review BOSS Director Awards, presides over companies at opposite ends of the publicity spectrum.

John Mullen describes Brambles as “the most successful $30 billion company that no one has ever heard of”, while the same certainly can’t be said of his role at the airline Australians love to hate, Qantas.
