Mark Scott, the vice chancellor of The University of Sydney, has advice for people at all stages of their careers. For those who are in big, busy jobs, he offers the following: “You’re not your business card.”
In other words, executives should not use their jobs as an excuse to let friendships fall by the wayside and to stop developing new skills. It can be a recipe for loneliness later in life.
