ANZ’s openly gay chairman warns on ASX’s sexuality disclosure

ANZ Bank’s openly gay chairman, Paul O’Sullivan, warns that a proposal for company directors to disclose their sexuality risks creating an expectation for business leaders to publicly reveal personal information they may prefer to keep private.

The latest update to corporate governance principles by the ASX Corporate Governance Council proposes to expand reporting on diversity beyond gender to matters including sexuality, age, ethnicity and skills, following similar moves in Britain and on the Nasdaq in the US.
