Universities – even those with big surpluses – cannot afford salary rises of 5 per cent a year over the next three years, the Australian Higher Education Industrial Association says.
It comes as staff at the University of Technology, Sydney, and University of Newcastle prepare to take industrial action after declaring wage offers by management are “not in the ballpark”.
