Federal Education Minister Alan Tudge has set a goal for Australian schools to be back among the world’s top nations in reading, maths and science by 2030, and says this is achievable by focusing on three areas: quality teaching, curriculum and assessment.

Tudge rightly identifies quality teaching as the most important in-school factor determining student performance.
