A keen interest in genetics led Melbourne student Thimuthu Dassanayake to enrol in a bachelor of science and arts at Monash University this year, after transferring from law.

Aware that there are great ethical questions that can arise in the field of genetics, Ms Dassanayake chose the double degree because it means she can study bioethics, which is an arts subject.
