Danielle Wood, the chairwoman of the Productivity Commission, has been named the overall winner of The Australian Financial Review Women in Leadership Awards for her contributions to economic policy and a preparedness to take an unpopular position in key national debates.

Wood has been at the helm of the PC since last November, before which she was chief executive of the Grattan Institute, a think tank, for 3½ years.
