ASX winners and losers after Labor election win
While renewables will benefit, market experts say the impact may not be as severe as expected for fossil fuel giants.
A minuscule policy platform naturally results in few stockmarket winners or losers come the week after the election. Labor’s triumph last weekend is no exception, but investors would do well to remember that the pool of losers, while small, contains some of Australia’s largest publicly listed companies.
The effects are largely concentrated around the new government’s support for pay rises that match inflation for minimum-wage workers and its more ambitious climate targets.
