How Australian workers could be left behind by AI
A report commissioned by the Australian government as a first step towards regulating artificial intelligence has warned the country is “relatively weak” at the type of AI that underpins popular services like ChatGPT, and may not have enough skilled workers or computing power to capitalise on the AI revolution.
As global AI experts on Wednesday warned AI could pose threats of human extinction similar to nuclear weapons, the Albanese government has released a Rapid Response Information Report on opportunities and threats of “large language model” (LLM) based systems, and called for submissions about local regulation.
