Young tech-savvy Australians say Facebook’s rebranding to Meta is a smart business move, but does not alter their mixed feelings towards the company that has been ingrained in their lives since high school in both positive and negative ways.

Finn Blake, 21, and a final year student at Melbourne University and host of business and careers podcast Project Next, thinks the refresh shows the company wants to put an early flag on the Metaverse moon and signal to other players like Apple and Google that “they are going to call the shots” in developing this virtual industry.
