ChatGPT takes the internet by storm, bad poetry and all

Jessica Sier

Millions of users are experimenting with an artificial intelligence chatbot billed as more advanced than Google and is being hailed for its creative answers to questions beyond simple facts, such as writing a love poem or the dialogue to a sitcom, or answering why blue is the colour of sadness.

Named ChatGPT, the bot was fully released earlier this week and saw 1 million users flooding in to try out the technology within the first five days. It took Instagram 2.5 months to reach 1 million users, 10 months for Facebook, 24 months for Twitter, and 41 months for Netflix.
