The founder of SafetyCulture says he was always a “reluctant” chief executive and is looking forward to relinquishing the day-to-day operations of the $2.5 billion workplace software company, after the surprise appointment of a new CEO who will operate from New York.

US tech executive Kelly Vohs will take over from Luke Anear in January, with the high-profile founder stepping into a newly created executive chairman role. The new CEO will move to Sydney to learn the ropes for six months before returning to the US.
