Budget lunch gets a poor corporate turnout

The unusual circumstances of the 2025 budget were always going to work against a big corporate turnout for Jim Chalmers.

At the traditional great hall lunch on Wednesday, the biggest businessman in the building was new Westpac CEO Anthony Miller, on the main table and sandwiched between the treasurer and Anthony Albanese. Hard to squeeze out of these things if you’re the major sponsor.
