Sarah Petty

Melbourne was the only capital city to post a preliminary auction clearance rate above 70 per cent as home buyers came out in force ahead of the Reserve Bank of Australia’s widely expected cash rate cut on Tuesday.

A total of 1835 auctions took place over the past week across the nation – the highest volume since the week before Easter, when 3066 homes went under the hammer, according to research by Cotality, formerly known as CoreLogic.
