Labor considers printed warnings on each cigarette
Individual cigarettes could soon contain printed warnings saying “smoking kills” as Labor seeks to drive down the rates of tobacco use, with new data showing that 1.9 million Australians were daily smokers last financial year.
About 10.1 per cent of Australians were daily smokers in 2021-22, according to data released on Monday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, putting the country on track to achieve a federal government target to push the smoking rate below 10 per cent by 2025.
