‘I knew it was a flood zone, I thought once in 50 years’

Raphael and Maisy Cendrillon knew the house they were buying in Chelmer in Brisbane’s western suburbs was in a flood zone, but they didn’t think it was going to suffer a major inundation only a decade after the 2011 floods.

Like many of the 15,000 residents whose homes were damaged by the flooding across south-east Queensland over the weekend, the Cendrillon’s spent Monday moving furniture from underneath their home.
