Gas project nixed by ScoMo ‘could pump by 2025’

The company fighting for the right to explore for gas off the NSW coast after its project was killed by Scott Morrison in his secret role as resources minister says it could have been supplying gas to the national market at $8 a gigajoule by 2024 if it still had its permit.

As the Albanese government mulls a drastic plan to drive down power bills, including a domestic price cap on gas of between $11 and $13 a gigajoule, Asset Energy insists its controversial PEP-11 project off the coast of Sydney and Newcastle could have helped ease a local energy crisis.
