WA closes its borders for the first time since federation

For the first time since federation, Western Australia will close its borders to the east coast as part of sweeping COVID-19 measures locking down the movement of people.

The border closure is expected to be in place by the weekend with exemptions for freight, essential work and compassionate grounds.
