It is not long before Endeavour Energy chief Guy Chalkley draws a parallel between careers and Snakes and Ladders, and another between careers and the stockmarket.

The former because careers tend to go up and down reflecting the moves on the board game. The latter, because eventually the stockmarket should rise, but there will be downwards and sideways movements on the way.
