The head of the University of NSW says the dilemma of young people experiencing lower living standards despite the highest levels of education in history is rooted in stagnating productivity.
Meanwhile, politicians from both sides are more inclined to “pull populist levers” including undermining the university sector and cutting immigration instead of tackling the fundamental causes of economic stagnation, Professor Attila Brungs says.
