Australia faces four years of uncertainty and volatility as Donald Trump’s trade wars, conflict in Europe and the Middle East, the slowing Chinese economy and stalling inflation cloud the global economic outlook.

As the world holds its breath for Trump’s latest round of tariffs due to be announced on April 2 – dubbed “Liberation Day” by the US president – Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ fourth budget handed down on Tuesday did not mention Trump but flagged the economic damage his policies could cause.
