Repealing voter ID law will be first act of Albanese government
Labor has committed to repealing controversial voter ID laws as the first act of an Albanese government, calling on the Coalition to withdraw legislation the opposition says will create long queues on election day.
Before a likely Senate inquiry into the plan to require voters to show photo ID such as a driver’s licence, passport or a bank card at the polls, Special Minister of State Ben Morton told a key scrutiny committee there were 743 confirmed instances of people admitting to multiple voting at the last federal election.
