Older women, migrants and Indigenous Australians could have their ability to cast ballots at federal elections restricted under Coalition plans to require voter ID, a leading analyst says.
Liberal and Nationals MPs this week approved draft legislation that would require voters to show a passport, driver’s licence, Medicare card or official documents before they can vote – a plan set to be fiercely opposed by Labor and the Greens.
