As the debate over gas prices and supply continues to heat up, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the interests of the energy industry and their hired guns in the lobbying sphere are at odds with the needs of everyday Australians (“Why the cost of gas is too complex to be fixed with a price cap”, January 27).
The 2022 gas price cap was a cautious policy move, but a significant step for a government hesitant to take bold action without clear public support.
