Labor to give teaching, nursing students $320 per week payment

Nursing, teaching, midwifery and social work students will be eligible for a $320 a week payment when undertaking mandatory practical units as part of their course in an effort to address what is known as placement poverty.
The so-called “prac payment”, which will cost about $23 million a year, was a key recommendation of the federal government’s recent review into the university sector.
